R Harish and Safwan A Win Men’s Doubles U18 Title at Tamil Nadu State Level Championship Pickleball

In their entire campaign in the Men’s Doubles U18 category, Harish and Safwan conceded only one point as they clinched the title at the 7th Tamil Nadu State Championship Pickleball at the Picklers Arena in Chennai on Sunday.

R Harish and Safwan A clinched the Men’s Doubles title in the Under-18 category at the 7th Tamil Nadu State Championship Pickleball, an IPA-sanctioned PWR 100 event, at the Picklers Arena in Chennai on Sunday. They secured the title by winning all four of their matches in the round-robin format.

Starting with a thumping 11-1 win over Gaurav Kansaria and Mitansh Sanghvi, Harish and Safwan defeated Shaurya Kothari and Rishi Nahar 11-0 in their second match. In their third outing, they beat Shaunak Sankla and Kevin Thomas 11-0, before wrapping up the campaign with an 11-0 win against Vir Mukhi and Hussain Mohammed.

Gaurav and Mitansh settled for the silver medal, while Shaurya and Rishi bagged the bronze.

With the IPA Nationals scheduled in October-November, Harish and Safwan will benefit immensely from winning the PWR 100 tournament.

The event, held over two weekends – 6th and 7th September, and 13th and 14th September – is a marquee fixture in IPA’s calendar, marking a significant step in pickleball’s rise in southern India.
